Up to 1200m. This bird is found in the south of the Pacific Coast up to the high Anchicayá, in the north of the Andes up to the lower Valle del Cauca, in the middle valley of the Magdalena, in the Atlantic east to Santa Marta and west of the Guajira and in the east of the Andes, Serrania de la Macarena, Western Caquetá, Orinoco River, Vichada, Vaupés and Amazonas. It is also found in eastern Mexico, western Ecuador, northern Argentina and southern Brazil.
The habitats are humid forest, often on forest edges and in secondary succession forests.
It lives in mountain of Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela year-round.
This species is a winter resident and is found in the Country from October to may.
It is endemic to the interior of wet montane forests of the Occidental and Central Cordillera of Colombia. Mainly from 1300 to 2200 meters above sea level; however, some records indicate it can be found as low as 900 meters, especially in the Department of Cauca.
It is a bird species of the Columbidae family and order Columbiformes, the approximate size of these bird is 17 centimeters.
