The Santa Marta Mountain Tanager is one of the many species of Neotropical bird in the family thraupidae and order Passeriformes, endemic to the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia.
It is measures around 18 centimeters, with an average weight of 41 gr. The male has a blue crown and nape; black cheeks with a small yellow spot under the eye; dark blue greyish back; golden yellow underside and black thighs.
It is natural habitats mossy areas on the edge of the mountain forest, between 1,600 and 3,200 meters of altitude.
It feeds on a variety of small fruits, and probably also some insects
