So many years ago, we had a dream. The idea of organizing an event like the photography event seemed unreachable at that time, but now it’s a reality that took place on the past June 7.
Let’s talk about what happened at the event. First of all, we had talks given by three experts who have demonstrated their level of expertise through their photographs. They decided to share their knowledge across three different fields: macro photography, landscape photography, and bird photography. We were able to appreciate some interesting results, like the one shown below:
This great picture of a spider from the tarantula family was taken using the macro technique. It’s amazing not just because of the high quality of the picture, which seems like it was taken by an expert, but also because this was the first time the author used the macro technique. She contacted us and asked what was necessary to participate in the macro talk. After some advice from our experts and applying the inverted lens technique, she was able to take this fantastic picture and shared her satisfaction with her first macro photography experience:
“Congratulations on the great event. As Nikky said on the first day, ‘the next time will be five times better.’ I really want 2025 to come. I’m really thankful to all of you.”

“Hello everyone. I would like to give my greetings and express my gratitude for the opportunity and time to learn, see new faces, and make new friends. It was a weekend full of fun and learning. Thanks to the staff for their management and hard work. Everything went as smoothly as silk, and the event surpassed my expectations. The experts were very attentive when sharing their knowledge. I could learn not only the wide range of photography techniques that exist but also the human quality of teaching with love to everyone. I will apply all the things I learned from you, not just to my photography process but to my life as well.
And last but not least, to the people who attended the event: unfortunately, I couldn’t meet each one of you, but that’s just another reason to attend next year.”
—Santiago Monroy
“I want to thank the staff and the experts. It’s the first time I feel 100% satisfied. It was perfect, and it’s more impressive considering that this was the first time this event was held.”
—Cesar Bucaro
Despite having the bad luck of rain on the event days, even though we scheduled it during a season with less rain, the visits to the sites went as well as we planned, and our visitors had a great experience. They had the opportunity to visit some of the most important places in the city, such as Hacienda El Bosque, El Color de Mis Reves, and Nevado del Ruiz Mountain. We were able to take some great pictures of birds, bugs, and incredible views of Manizales.
As the event was coming to an end, we all got sentimental. While we were saying our goodbyes, we heard some emotional words from the head of this event, Ferney Salgado, who said:
“When I started birdwatching, I never expected things to turn out this way. It just started as a delusional dream of mine, and now I’ve come far enough to make it real. But this dream is not just mine; it’s the dream of my family. My three sons are here with me now, helping to make everything go well. My wife, who has always been by my side, even before we could imagine that something like this could be possible, and also my son-in-law, who had never attended this type of event before but is now a part of the staff, learning something new for his life. We all feel very thankful to all of the attendees for giving us this chance to make our dreams and yours come true.”
And with those beautiful words, the event concluded.
Maybe at this point, you’re curious if this event will happen again. Well, we have good news for you! The new dates for the event have been released, and the next one will be held in June 2025, specifically from the 17th to the 23rd, in Manizales.
