Day 1: Arrive in San Jose and transfer to our first hotel in the Pacific
Arrive in San Jose and transfer to our first hotel in the Pacific, check in and dinner. (If your flight arrives early we can do a first night owl search on the 19th). Overnight at Tarcoles lodge.
Day 2: Early breakfast and departure for a morning birding
Early breakfast and departure for a morning birding with Alvaro Gutierrez, we will look for Ground Cuckoos and Long tailed manakins. Lunch back at the lodge, afternoon we will have a boat trip in the Tarcoles River for Crocodiles, kingfishers, Herons and beautiful sunset. Dinner at the hotel and right after we go looking for owls with Alvaro.
Day 3: Check out after breakfast and depart for Gema del Bosque Lodge
Check out after breakfast and depart for Gema del Bosque Lodge, we will have lunch at a local restaurant following we will go on an expedition to look for the Resplendent Quetzal, check in at the lodge in the late afternoon and dinner.
Day 4: Second Quetzal search
Second Quetzal search, we depart early in the morning and breakfast will be after we secure some good photos of such birds. Lunch at the hotel followed by a Hummingbird photography session with flash set up on a nice set up near our lodge. Dinner at the Lodge.
Day 5: Check out and depart for Sarapiqui region
Check out and depart for Sarapiqui region, today we will have lunch in a place with lots of birds and frogs, food is super good and today we will have our first macro session with poison frogs and snakes.
Overnight at Ara ambigua Lodge.
Day 6: After breakfast visit to Pirella Garden for some butterflies
After breakfast visit to Pirella Garden for some butterflies, bats, frogs and birds photos, lunch at the place, afternoon boat safari in the Sarapiqui River. Dinner and overnight at Ara ambigua hotel.
Day 7: Breakfast and departure for Boca Tapada region
Breakfast and departure for Boca Tapada region, on route stop for Macaws photography at Alvaro’s farm, this session lasts for about two hours and then we drive to our lodge to arrive for lunch. Afternoon we do Toucans photography followed by Bats photography with flash, tonight we will have a late dinner around 8:30 pm.
Day 8: Morning shooting of Toucans then we will have breakfast
Morning shooting of Toucans then we will have breakfast, at 9:00 am, we will go to create photos of King Vultures from a well designed blind. Lunch at the hotel, afternoon macro session with snakes and frogs. Dinner at the hotel followed by a second bat session. Overnight at Laguna de Lagarto.
Day 9: Breakfast and departure for the Nest Nature Center
Breakfast and departure for the Nest Nature Center for some more bird photography. Lunch at the place returning in the late afternoon to our lodge. Dinner at Laguna del Lagarto.
Day 10: Full day dedicated to little birds
Breakfast and departure for the Nest Nature Center for some more bird photography. Lunch at the place returning in the late afternoon to our lodge. Dinner at Laguna del Lagarto.
Day 11: After breakfast departure for San Jose
Breakfast and departure for the Nest Nature Center for some more bird photography. Lunch at the place returning in the late afternoon to our lodge. Dinner at Laguna del Lagarto.
Day 12: Drop off, end of services
Two flash set ups, macro sets, bird feeders, Quetzal entrance fees, all park entrance fees, boat trips,local experts with snakes,meals, transportation in a nice bus, two photography leaders, tips, cooler with water and soft drinks, bats set up, King Vultures blind, will all be part of the package.
