South America | Colombia Colorfull Birds Photo Tour (Cali, Coffee Region and Andean Mountains)
Colombia has the world’s biggest list of birds, 1950 species which 145 are Hummingbirds, 141 Tanagers and many Trogons, Chlorophonias, Parrots, Orioles, Toucans and other special birds to photograph; in addiction, Colombia has 80 endemics and 135 nearly endemics. A birding tour in this country is outstanding. This program is made to reveal a real photographing experience
Day 1:Arrival in Cali Airport at 900 MASL
Arrival in Cali Airport at 900 MASL and then drive 2 hours to our hotel, night in Natural Luxury at 1.700 M.A.S.L.
Day 2: Drive 40 minutes to Doña Dora Feeders at 1.050 MASL
Drive 40 minutes to Doña Dora Feeders at 1.050 MASL in the Choco Bioregion to enjoy Hummingbirds and Passerines spot, key species are: Toucan Barbet, Glistening-green Tanager, Velvet Purple Coronet- Violet-tailed Sylph Empress Brilliant among others, in the afternoon we will go back to the hotel.
Day 3: Full day at La Florida Farm at 2.000 MASL
Full day at La Florida Farm at 2.000 MASL in the Cloud Forest, western branche of the Andes, to try the endemic and stunning Multicolored Tanager, Chestnut. Wood Quail among others like Tanagers, Barbets, Motmots, Toucanets, Chachalacas and many others. In the afternoon, back to Araucana.
Day 4: Morning in Araucana to try to photograph some hummingbirds
Morning in Araucana to try to photograph some hummingbirds and other species on the feeders, we leave the hotel at 10:30 and we will drive Drive 3 hours to La Union, in the afternoon we will try to photograph the beautiful Ruby Topaz. overnight in Los Viñedos Hotel at 900 M.A.S.L.
Day 5: Morning to try the Ruby Topaz
Morning to try the Ruby Topaz and then, we will drive 3 hours to Manizales, after to reach the hotel, we can try some birds at the feeders spots. Night in Tinamou Lodge.
Day 6: Morning in Tinamou Lodge
Morning in Tinamou Lodge, after lunch we will visit Don Miguel Reserve to try birds on feeders, then back to the lodge.
Day 7: Drive 1 hour to visit Rio Blanco Reserve
Drive 1 hour to visit Rio Blanco Reserve to try Antpittas and other birds visiting feeders, in the afternoon we go back to the Hotel. Night in Tinamou.
Day 8: FVisit Hacienda El Bosque at 3.100 MASL
Visit Hacienda El Bosque at 3.100 MASL to try some amazing birds like Crescent-faced Antpitta, Grey- breasted Mountain Toucan, Barred Fruiteater and many others, in the afternoon we will drive 1 hour to Termales del Ruiz, a nice hotel with hot springs at 3.200 M.A.S.L.
Day 9: Visit to Nevado del Ruiz
Visit to Nevado del Ruiz to try the endemic Buffy Helmetcrest and then, visit to Termales del Ruiz to try Rainbow- bearded Thornbill, in the afternoon, we will drive 1:30 hours to Manizales, overnight in Quo Hotel.
Day 10: Visit to Glamping Color de mis Réves
Visit to Glamping Color de mis Réves to try the amazing Black-billed Mountain Toucan, Masked Trogon, Black- collared Jay, Bicoloured Antpitta and many others, in the afternoon, back to the hotel in Manizales.
Day 11: Transfer to Jardin at 1.750 MASL
Transfer to Jardin at 1.750 MASL, we will drive for 5 hours to visit in the afternoon the Cock of the Rock lek, overnight in Plantación Hotel.
Day 12 – 04 May: Visit to Los Guácharos
Visit to Los Guácharos Reserve to try the elusive Oilbird, the endemic Red-bellied Grackle and many others, finally, we will drive 3- 4 hours to Rio Negro at 2.000
